About Connie

26348668553_a9a8e9a241_k (1) My name is Connie Loizos, and I write about venture capital and startups here at StrictlyVC as well as in my role as Silicon Valley Editor of TechCrunch. (We’re all hyphenates these days, aren’t we?)

Before founding StrictlyVC in late 2013, I was a senior editor at Thomson Reuters, where I wrote thousands of news stories, columns, and profiles for a number of the company’s properties. I also wrote extensively for PE Wire, a daily email about private equity and venture capital, and worked closely with Dan Primack, who now covers PE and VC for Fortune.

Before joining Thomson Reuters in 2007, I covered venture capital for the San Jose Mercury News, and before joining the Merc, I held staff positions at Dow Jones, Time Inc., and Crain Communications. I’ve also written freelance articles for Barron’s, Fast Company, Portfolio, and Inc.; authored a couple of books; and remain an emeritus member of the San Francisco’s Writer’s Grotto.

I began covering venture capital and startups at the original Red Herring magazine, which I joined in 1996 and still remember fondly.

On a personal note, I live in San Francisco with my husband and two boys and suffer mightily whenever my hometown teams lose. (I grew up in Cleveland. Hope springs eternal.)

Thanks for checking out StrictlyVC and hopefully signing up for our daily email newsletter.

I appreciate your taking the time to read what we write and welcome any feedback you might have.
